Kansas City Organizing Tips for a Fresh Start This January
January is Get Organized & Be Productive (GO) Month, sponsored by the National Association of Productivity & Organizing Professionals (NAPO). GO Month is a nationwide reminder that organization isn’t about perfection — it’s about creating systems that make life easier, reduce decision fatigue, and help your home feel more supportive.
If you’ve been wanting a fresh start in your home, this is your sign.

What Is GO Month?
GO Month (Get Organized & Be Productive Month) is a national initiative sponsored by NAPO to encourage better routines, healthier spaces, and more productive home systems through organizing strategies and professional support.

Why GO Month Matters (Especially for Busy Households)
Most of the families I work with aren’t disorganized — they’re simply juggling a lot. When your home doesn’t have clear systems in place, it creates extra mental load:
more time spent searching for things
piles forming in high-traffic areas
stress during mornings + transitions
frustration when it feels like you’re always “catching up”
GO Month is a great time to reset the few systems that impact your daily routines the most — so your home works with you, not against you.
Where to Start (Without Overthinking It)
If organizing feels overwhelming, start with a space that impacts you every day.
Some of the best “high return” areas include:
entryway + drop zone
kitchen zones (snacks, lunch packing, dishes)
closet flow (daily outfits, laundry routines)
mail landing space / paper clutter
Even ONE improved system can create a noticeable shift in how your home feels.
Kansas City GO Month Event at The Container Store
Each GO Month, NAPO members share organizing strategies and resources — and I love being able to bring that support into our local community.
This year, I’ve been selected as the local organizer for a GO Month in-store collaboration event with The Container Store in Kansas City.
Event Details:
Location: The Container Store (Overland Park, KS)
Date: Saturday, January 31st, 2026
Time: 12-3pm

What to Expect at the Event
During the event, I’ll be in-store sharing:
practical organizing strategies (real-life + maintainable)
product recommendations that truly support your routines
solutions for high-traffic spaces like kitchens, entryways, closets, and storage areas
a GO Month tip sheet you can take home
This is a great event for anyone who:
wants to simplify their home this year
keeps buying products but doesn’t know what actually works
needs help choosing a starting point
wants systems that look good and function beautifully
Why The Container Store Products Are Unmatched
One of the reasons I love partnering with The Container Store is that their products don’t just look good — they’re intentionally designed for real homes.
The Container Store collaborates with professional organizers and uses expert insight when developing products and solutions. That’s a big reason their systems are so dependable — they’re created with real-life functionality, routines, and longevity in mind.
In other words: you’re not just buying containers — you’re investing in solutions designed to support how busy homes actually live.
Bring Measurements + Photos (So You Can Get the Best Advice)
If you plan to attend, here’s my biggest tip:
Bring measurements.
Bring pictures.
This helps me give you better recommendations and helps you choose the right products the first time.
What to bring:
width/depth/height of your shelf, cabinet, closet section, or drawer
a few quick photos of the space (and the items going in it)
notes on what you’re trying to store and what’s not working
This makes it easier to:
choose the correct product type + size
avoid “trial and error” purchases
build a system that lasts
Want Help Beyond GO Month?
If you feel inspired during GO Month but want real-life systems tailored to your home, I’d love to help.
I work with Kansas City families and professionals who want:
organized spaces that are easy to maintain
less overwhelm + less mental load
systems that match real routines (kids, schedules, busy workweeks)
organizing that feels design-forward, streamlined, and supportive
The best next step is a quick call so I can learn more about your space, your goals, and what kind of support would serve you best.
If you’re local, I hope these Kansas City organizing tips give you a little momentum and a simple starting point. Explore more about Everyday Details + Design HERE
